I’d like to introduce you to the shawl that is going to take me a long time to finish.
I picked up this yarn in a kit at a local yarn shop, The Yarnery. They put together really beutiful kits and I was immediately in love with the colors. However, when I started knitting the pattern for the kit, I just didn’t love it and I knew I would never finish it. So, off to Ravelry to find patterns that use this yarn. (I spend a lot of time searching for patterns to go with yarn I already have. If you haven’t used this feature, you’re missing out.)

This pattern, Lake Constance, is simply beautiful and seems to use some of the same colors I got in this kit. I did have to purchase one more ball of the lightest color (the MC) and the dye lot number doesn’t match, but I’m not worried since the color is split by bands ofthe other colors and I can swap it in there at some point.
The pattern comes with a chart and a written pattern (I’m a written pattern knitter). So far, it’s very clear and the technique for making the cross lines is really easy (I just have to watch my counts). This is the first project I’ve knit with more than two colors. I have added a clip of each specific color in each section to make sure I’m using the right colors (you use three colors at most in a section) and written on each ball’s label which CC it is.

But, this is a light fingering weight yarn and I’m pretty sure I have about 2 million tiny little stitches on the needles right now and I’ve only used three of the five colors. I figure I’ll be working on this for some time, especially since I do not take this project out of my house. Managing the colors to keep them untwisted is almost a full-time job and my lap-sitting cat is irritated that I won’t let him near me when I work on it.
However, I can’t wait to see the end result!
